Apartment living in cities

The rapid increase in urban population and the horizontal expansion of cities in the surrounding areas have led many communities to make housing one of the most important priorities in their development programs. Following this phenomenon, high-rise and apartment housing were introduced almost after the Industrial Revolution, which led to a rapid increase in urban population. In our country, the rapid increase in urban population and the expansion of urbanization in recent decades and increasing demand for housing, on the one hand, land shortages and high prices on the other hand, lead people to apartment life. The city of Tabriz, due to the centrality of the province and immigration and the high rate of natural population growth, has witnessed unprecedented urban population growth in recent decades.

The rapid increase in urban population, which has resulted in the breakdown of social ties of families and the weakening of cultural traditions in most major cities of the country, has caused many problems in the social relations of people living in residential complexes. The research method in this research is descriptive, analytical and explanatory. Findings show that providing housing for the growing population of cities leaves no choice but to expand apartment construction and expand apartment living. The new phenomenon of apartment living has its own social relations. It is the first problem that a person faces. In this “social distance” lifestyle, instead of having a culture of citizenship, people are practically urbanites who are isolated from (rural) life and, at the same time, are strangers to the new culture and have not become so-called urban; Therefore, during the transition from one culture to a new culture, they have encountered contradictions and have been practically pushed to the cultural outskirts of the city. The results of this study also indicate that apartment dwellers have not found the necessary adaptation to the conditions of living in the apartment and the compulsion to accept this type of housing is contrary to the culture and attitude of traditional society and unfamiliar with the rules and culture of apartment living. It has become a tense atmosphere. The rapid growth of the urban population and other factors mentioned, leave no choice but the vertical development of cities in the form of residential complexes; But what needs serious attention is teaching how to establish a balanced interaction between indigenous culture and apartment culture in parallel with the technical development of such structures.
